Position Overview

Location: Olympia, Tacoma, Kent, Renton, Tukwila. Candidates can reside anywhere south of I-90 to Olympia, WA.

Job Summary

Kennametal is looking for experienced machinists and programmers interested in transitioning into a professional sales role. If you have hands-on machining or CNC programming experience, we want to hear from you! The role involves driving metal-cutting tool sales by managing customer relationships, providing technical support, and increasing productivity. It combines technical expertise with sales skills to meet targets, build territory presence, and develop a sales pipeline. The position is based from a home office within the territory, with over 80% of the time spent at customer sites. A company vehicle is provided, along with a competitive compensation package including a base salary, performance bonus, and benefits from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve or surpass revenue targets by offering tailored metal cutting solutions based on market trends and customer needs.
  • Manage sales leads, prospects, and new customer accounts effectively.
  • Lead the entire sales process from prospecting to closing, including demos, negotiations, and sourcing.
  • Develop strategic territory plans to meet revenue goals, focusing on new product sales.
  • Respond promptly to pre-sales technical and commercial inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate customer and project records in CRM systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams like Application Engineers and Inside Sales to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical workshops online and onsite.
  • Represent Kennametal at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Provide cost-effective solutions through application analysis and testing.
  • Prepare and deliver sales forecasts and progress reports.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Manufacturing, or Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in CNC machining industry.
  • Strong product knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and ability to customize solutions.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and administrative skills.
  • Customer-focused with problem-solving passion.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of managing contracts and project specs.
  • Creative, persuasive, and strategic thinker.
  • Team player with cross-departmental collaboration skills.

Compensation: $71,000 - $90,000 annually plus performance-based sales bonus.
