Job DescriptionDirectional Bore Operator/ LocatorSummary/ObjectiveThis position performs tasks required for the operation of directional drill including set-up and bore path completion for the construction/upgrade of communications conduit, gas, water, sewer, etc.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Load and unload directional bore equipment in a manner that is secure and damage freeTransport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe mannerComplete a daily inspection on bore equipment prior to commencing workPrepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencingIn conjunction with bore crew, locate/operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cablesOperate horizontal directional drill equipment in accordance with company and industry standardsResponsible for locating cables and verification in accordance with blueprintsIdentifies utilities in the construction area and bore pathConnect/stub-up conduit and wireDig pits, trenches or potholes as required including windows when crossing utilitiesRestores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsiteAccurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment according to established company standards and procedures (i.e. timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner.Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help team complete a projectKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret engineering/construction prints, plans and specificationsKnowledge of utility depths and placementsPossess general knowledge of construction practicesAbility to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levelsAbility to work in trenches, manholes and tunnelsMust have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasksAbility to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively within a team environment Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skillsAbility to move materials/equipment weighing up to 80 poundsAbility to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with constant interruptionsAbility to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively within a team environmentAble to work 10+ hours in a day when necessaryWilling to work outside in varying weather conditionsTravel Weekly travel is required for this position.
