The patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 during the day and 1:5 to 1:6 at night. Staffing includes 3 technicians when fully staffed on one section and 2 technicians when fully staffed on the other section. Equipment utilized includes Bipaps, high flow oxygen, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and various cardiac and insulin drips. Familiarity with peritoneal dialysis and wound vacs is beneficial. Documentation is performed using a designated system. The schedule requires working every other weekend and three 12-hour shifts per week. Floating may be necessary between units. Patient experience initiatives include hourly rounding on days and every two hours at night, using communication boards. Candidates must possess ACLS certification and have experience with stroke care and post-cardiac catheterization care. Advanced skills are required for procedures like peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and tube insertions. Teamwork and a supportive culture are emphasized within the unit. Self-scheduling is utilized, creating flexibility for staff.
