We are looking for dedicated people that want to make a long term career with Sun Hydraulics.Job Summary:As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts. You will ensure equipment runs smoothly, meet strict quality standards, and actively contribute to process improvements.Duties/Responsibilities:Machine Operation & SetupSet up and operate CNC lathe machines.Perform tool changes, offsets, and adjustments based on blueprints and specifications.Verify settings through measurements and first-run checks.Quality AssuranceRead and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.Use measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators) to inspect parts.Ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and customer specifications.Maintenance & TroubleshootingPerform routine preventative maintenance on machines.Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or control issues.Replace worn tools and make necessary corrections to programs or setups.Documentation & CommunicationMaintain production and quality logs.Report work order status and issues to the supervisor or team lead.Participate in training and stay updated on modern technologies and techniques.Explore opportunities to increase productivity in work area.Required Skills/Abilities: Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and lathe operation.Ability to interpret technical drawings and GD&T.Basic knowledge of math, geometry, and trigonometry.Proactive and safety-conscious mindset.Willingness to learn and grow within Sun Hydraulics.Education and Experience:High school diploma/GED required.Technical/vocational training in machining preferred.Experience using CNC Lathe machines preferred.Experience with Fanuc controls is a plus.Experience with Citizen, Swiss, Miyano, or Mazak lathes is highly valued.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.Manual dexterity and focus for working with precision tools.QualificationsRequired Skills/Abilities: Understanding work order, blueprints, control plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, critical surfaces/edges, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimension and tolerances (GD&T)Understanding work instructions ad zero/reference points Understanding of basic math, geometry, and trigonometryPositive and proactive attitude toward completing work ordersWillingness to learn and grow through Sun HydraulicsMeeting commitments and obligationsEducation and Experience:High school diploma/GED requiredTechnical college degree preferred2+ years' experience using production machineryExperience working with a Mazak Star/Integrex or Swiss Lathes a plusPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of standingProlonged period of sittingAbility to lift 50 pounds at times
