The Ideal candidate will: Set up, operate, or tend lathe and milling machines to turn, bore, thread, form, or face metal or plastic materials.
Responsibilities:
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometer and calipers
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachment, accessories, and materials onto machines
Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lather, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations
Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
Inspect samples work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometer, and dial indicators
Study blueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders for information on specifications and tooling instructions, and to determine material requirements and operational sequences
Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances
Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths and feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work pieces
Start lath or turning machines and observe operations to ensure that specifications are met
Select cutting tools and tooling instructions, according to written specifications or knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics
Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances
Replace worn tools, and sharpen full cutting tools and dies using bench grinders or cutter-grinding machines
Position, secure, and align cutting tools in tool holders on machines, using hand tools, and verify their positions with measuring instruments
Requirements:
High school or equivalent; technical school preferred.
Minimum 7 years' experience with the set up and operation of CNC milling, 3D 4-axis machining.
Require the reading and interpretation of complex mechanical blueprints with GD&T. Experienced with wide variety of precision measuring equipment. Basic knowledge of using measuring instruments, machine tools and electronic meters.
Ability to work independently.
