Starting rate: $26.70 up to $31.93 (DOE and skills assessment/Pay for Skills). Annual rate increases and vacation first year.Performs a variety of activities relative to the machining, repair, and maintenance of dies and tooling by performing the following duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with all safety, environmental, emergency and company policies and procedures.Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications of dies and tooling.Works with engineering to develop templates, sketches, and/or drawings and to determine work processes.Repairs and maintains dies and tooling according to written and verbal instructions, blueprints, or specifications, and ensures materials are maintained to exacting tolerances and finish requirements.Must be able to set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to cut, turn, bore, grind and otherwise shape work pieces to prescribed dimensions.Calculates dimensions and tolerances with precision to one ten-thousandth of an inch or as specified by customer orders.Visually inspects dies and tooling for defects, grooves, discoloration and chips.Must be able to use various gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools to inspect and measure dies and tooling, to set up machines and check completed product against customer specifications and/or drawings.Uses various grinders, polishing compounds, sanders, cleaning solvents, hand and pneumatic tools and lathes to customize, maintain and repair dies and tooling.Completes written reports and enters data into spreadsheets. Analyses data and makes recommendations to management, production supervisors, engineers and machine operators on department needs, changes and quality improvements.Maintains inventory to ensure proper number of dies and tooling in stock.Proceeds on work assignments with a minimum of supervision and direction with specific instructions provided on unusual work or design changes.Assists in cleaning (5S) the tool and die work area and ensuring all equipment is organized and maintained in proper condition.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or GED required plus At least three (3) years of experience in Tool & Die repair or; proof of Journeyman level (Journeyman Card) with a minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience or;Training or completion of three to four (3-4) year apprenticeship program and three (3) years of experience or;Associates Degree in Manufacturing Technology or Machinist/Tool and Die Technology with one to two (1-2) years of experience a plus.PREFERRED EXPERIENCESAdvanced knowledge of metals or general manufacturing machining background is preferred.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, sketches and diagrams. Ability to write routine reports, work orders and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally with co-workers in face-to-face, one-on-one settings to explain repairs made or to discuss repair strategies.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and decimals. Ability to measure using a variety of tools and techniques. Ability to use basic geometry to solve problems and to draw and interpret graphs and interpret gauges.PERSONAL INTERACTION AND ACCOUNTABILITYAbility to work cooperatively with others in a team setting, confer with co-workers, management, as well as, vendors and contractors who supply materials, equipment and/or services for the operations.
