Job Title: Per Diem Physical TherapistReports to: PT Supervisor and Clinical DirectorDepartment: Clinical ServicesCompensation: $45-$70/hrWe are a private day and boarding school in northern Westchester County, serving the needs of an international coed population of children, adolescents, and young adults on the autism spectrum.Embark on a fulfilling career where your passion meets purpose...If you're passionate about working with and mentoring students on the Autism Spectrum -Come join our team!What are we looking for?The Per Diem Physical Therapist, under the guidance of the PT Supervisor and the Clinical Director, delivers comprehensive therapeutic services to eligible autistic students with complex emotional-behavioral needs to enhance their access to the academic environment and maximize participation in activities within the day and residential school setting.The physical therapist is responsible for evaluating students and developing appropriate therapy programs that consider classroom routines and needed accommodations or adaptations. They employ a variety of strategies to address musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, or other physical impairments impacting students' physical function and participation, such as exercises and manual therapy to assist body structures and functions, adapting physical tasks, adapting the classroom environment, recommending assistive devices, or training staff to carryover therapeutic strategies.Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with assigned students on a per diem basis as determined by student census and current PT session needsAssess students using appropriate evaluation tools, including standardized or informal tests, clinical observations, and review of medical/educational recordsDevelop and implement individualized therapy programs for qualifying studentsDocument screenings, evaluations, treatment plans, quarterly progress reports, discharge summaries, and other required dataProvide consultation and in-service training to staff to support carryover of therapeutic strategies in day and residential settingsCollaborate with caregivers to ensure alignment of therapy plans across home and school environmentsRecommend and support the acquisition and use of adaptive equipment and assistive technologyMaintain accurate clinical and administrative records in accordance with program and regulatory requirementsPerform other related duties as requiredQualifications and Minimum ExperienceDoctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited Physical Therapy programMinimum of 1 year of pediatric experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with developmental disabilitiesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of physical therapy principles and application in educational settingsExperience with a variety of evaluation tools and therapeutic/adaptive equipmentAbility to assess, develop, and implement individualized treatment plansStrong documentation and organizational skillsEffective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to train others in therapeutic carryover techniquesAbility to prioritize, stay organized, and meet deadlinesPhysical DemandsWorkday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands and deadlines; requires sustained concentrationFrequent walking up and down stairs (6-floor building) or between buildingsSupport students using therapeutic equipment such as treadmills, swings, scooters, and other adaptive devicesPosition Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a Per Diem position. Individuals will be assigned student cases and sessions on a weekly basis, depending on census and therapy needs.
