We are looking for an individual who desires to do precision work and provide prompt and efficient services to internal and external customers. This is an in-house certificate program leading to Journeyworker title upon completion of the 4-year training program.Penn United is a leader in our industry, providing the highest quality precision manufactured solutions for a variety of products and industries. Penn United provides work that challenges you, training and career opportunities to advance you, and an exceptional benefit compensation program that rewards you.Responsibilities: Learn to operate and understand manual and CNC grinding equipmentLearn to grind carbide components according to exact blueprint specificationsRead prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control mediaEnsure proper grade segregation is practiced at all work stationsVerify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) Report to work on time and ready to learn and accomplish tasks Attend on-site apprenticeship classes in addition to on-the-job learning while performingresponsibilities on the shop floor. This is an in-house certificate program leading to Journeyworker title upon completion of the 4-year training programQualificationsKnowledge & Skills: High level of technical, mechanical and math aptitudeThe ability & desire to do precision work Knowledge of blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers is preferred, not necessaryExpectation to work the majority of the time on a daylight shift, but must be available to work any shift needed; lift up to 50 lbs., and stand 8-10 hours per day.Regular attendance and solid performance in apprenticeship classesEducation/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience with grinding machines is preferred, not necessary Compensation & Benefits: Penn United Technologies currently employs nearly 700 people in our employee-owned precision manufacturing company, located about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh in Butler County.
