Job Description
The Quality Engineer (Aerospace) will be responsible for:
- Ensure compliance with quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, and NADCAP across all manufacturing processes.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for internal teams and OEM customers, supporting audits, inspections, and process qualifications.
- Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using tools like 8D, DMAIC, and FMEA.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality documentation , including procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions.
- Oversee and perform source inspections , dimensional checks, and non-destructive testing to ensure product conformity.
- Analyze nonconformances and returned products, managing disposition of nonconforming materials and MRB activities.
- Support engineering in new product and process introduction, including PPQ, SSP, and contract reviews .
- Participate in and lead internal and external audits , generating reports and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
- Interface cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and customer service to resolve quality issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and quality training programs.
- Ensure calibration and inspection systems are maintained and compliant with industry and customer standards.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Quality Engineer (Aerospace) applicant will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment .
- Hands-on experience with AS9100 , ISO9001 , and NADCAP quality systems.
- Prior work with large OEMs in aerospace, defense, or industrial sectors is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with FAA or nuclear industry standards is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage source inspections , audits, and customer quality requirements.
- Skilled in nonconformance analysis , root cause investigation , and corrective action planning.
- Experience with quality tools such as 8D, DMAIC, FMEA, DOE, and SPC.
- Proficient in developing and maintaining quality procedures, inspection plans , and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and with external customers.
