What You'll Do:
As a Brakes Design Engineer , you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of critical braking technologies and components for our production vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring our braking systems meet the highest standards for performance, reliability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop foundation brake components from initial concept all the way to production.
- Establish rigorous requirements for components based on desired vehicle attributes and meticulously manage validation activities.
- Drive design excellence at both the system and component levels, paying great attention to every detail.
- Collaborate closely with both internal teams and external suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to integrate multiple systems in the most efficient way possible.
- Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs.
- Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding, dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of automotive industry experience , with a focused background in braking system design .
- Proven experience taking brake components from initial concept through to production.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
- Hands-on experience in prototype assembly .
- Demonstrated experience in technology, system, and supplier selection.
- Experience in design release, change management, and project management .
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Demonstrated ability for hands-on problem-solving.
- Experience with specific components such as brake calipers, brake rotors, brake shields, wheel end hoses, and wiring harnesses .
- Experience and proficiency with CATIA V6 and 3DX PLM tools .
- Experience with systematic technical problem-solving methodologies.
- Knowledge of NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) principles .
- Ability to run CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) analysis tools .
- Experience with driven-vehicle attributes development .
- Experience and understanding of automotive mechatronics design and control theory .
- BS/BEng or MS/MEng in a relevant Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
