Prepares and cooks nutritious and attractive meals for large groups of people at James River Juvenile Detention Center on an hourly relief basis; does related work as required.
Essential Duties
Knowledge of the preparation, cooking and serving of foods; knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a large kitchen; ability to read and write and understand written and oral directions; ability to make arithmetical computations accurately and quickly; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees; good judgment; ability to lift and maneuver food and food service equipment; ability to deal with patrons courteously and tactfully.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of the tenth grade, preferably supplemented by a commercial food training course, and three (3) years of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
This is a relief cook position located at the James River Juvenile Detention Center in Powhatan County and will be utilized on an as-needed basis.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
