We are seeking a dedicated Line Cook with prep and restaurant experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, ensuring ingredients are properly prepped, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and monitoring food quality. This role requires strict adherence to health and safety regulations while working closely with kitchen staff and effectively communicating orders. Responsibilities
Location: The New York Historical
Schedule: Part-Time, On-Site
Base salary: $23.00 - $25.00/hour based on experience

Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
- Maintain assigned cooking station, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for service.
- Follow instructions for portioning, chopping, marinating, and seasoning ingredients required for daily service.
- Operate kitchen equipment (grills, fryers, ovens, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food quality throughout the preparation process and ensure consistent presentation.
- Assist in stock rotation, inventory control, and maintain proper storage practices.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards according to NYC Department of Health guidelines
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate and communicate orders during busy service periods.
- Ensure consistency by following standard recipes and procedures without deviation unless approved by the chef.
- Complete cooking tasks efficiently while prioritizing multiple orders during peak hours.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workstation.
- Maintain a positive, team-spirited approach with a willingness to support fellow cooks as needed.
- Proven experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Minimum 2 years of culinary or restaurant experience.
- Excellent knife skills
- Protein/butcher experience a plus.
- Professional culinary references required.
- Experienced in dish-washing and sanitation.
- Must own a complete knife and tool kit.
- Must have regular computer access.
- Impeccable standards of personal hygiene.
- New York City Food Handler's Certificate is a plus.
- Strong work ethic, well organized, focused, attentive to details
- Dependable and punctual.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and stand for at least 8 hours.
- Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, kitchen equipment, and processes.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume kitchen and maintain composure.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and a passion for cooking.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, high-temperature environment.
