Position summary:
nWe are seeking a motivated senior-level engineer with a minimum of 7-years of experience (10 years preferred) to support the planning, design, and implementation of river, floodplain, and wetland restoration projects in tidal and fluvial environments. As a project manager, you will lead junior engineering staff and oversee tasks such as topographic surveying, drafting, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, engineering calculations, report preparation and construction observation.

nDuties & Responsibilities:
nProject management, project development, and marketing
nDevelopment of detailed plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and reports, along with permit application support
nEngineering field/topographic surveying and map development
nHydrologic and hydraulic modeling
nConstruction observation and post-construction monitoring
nPreferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
nA minimum of 7 years of experience in civil engineering
nBachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering (or related field)
nCalifornia PE license preferred but not mandatory
nExcellent verbal and written communication skills
nExperience in the field of water resources or ecological restoration
nProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
nWorking understanding of HEC RAS and HEC HMS preferred
nAbility to work effectively in a team environment and communicate well with non-engineering staff
nValid California driver’s license
nWillingness to travel (typically a few days/month) and work outdoors in rough terrain

nWorking Conditions:
nWaterways provides a comfortable office environment with a flexible work schedule. We provide reasonable accommodations to individuals to be able to perform their work. We work in the field year-round, with more intensive field work during the in-water work period for construction (July-October). Field work is performed outdoors, in inclement weather, and sometimes at active construction sites. Some projects are in remote and rugged terrain with limited to no cell phone service. Candidate is expected to be capable of walking on rough terrain and in small creeks and rivers caring survey gear and other field equipment. Waterways provides meals and accommodations when overnight travel is required.
