The OR Resource Coordinator (ORC), Sterile Processing is responsible to ensure that the instrumentation and equipment needs of the surgeon and OR staff are being met on a daily basis. In addition, the ORC will serve as a liaison between the OR and SPD to focus on process improvements that impact OR efficiencies, improve OR/SPD communication, and increase capacity for surgical case volume and surgeon satisfaction. Additionally, the ORC will support the educational needs of the SPD staff by providing competency training and just-in-time education as needed. The ORC will utilize knowledge and skills to work independently in all job functions including assisting the team leads with department operations in the absence of the Supervisor.

Age of Patients Served: N/A
Required Education: Associate degree, Specific course work: Degree specific to healthcare
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Licensure/Certifications: Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) -OR- Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) BLS Certification (AHA or ARC)
Preferred Licensure/Certifications: N/A
Required Experience: 1-2 years OR and/or Formal SPD Program teaching experience. 3-5 years Sterile Processing or equivalent OR experience
Preferred Experience: N/A
Supervisory Responsibility: Number of Employees Supervised: 6-10
Budgetary Responsibility: Responsible for annual budget of $0.00
Necessary Skills:
1. Knowledge in all aspects of supply/equipment processing, including surgical instrumentation.
2. Must possess manual dexterity, computer skills, and be able to work under pressure.
3. Must have experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel
4. Knowledge in the use of autoclave, steris, washer/disinfection, sterrad, etc.
5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to read, spell and do simple math, write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.
7. Ability to work closely with others in positive ways.
8. Proficient with functions in an OR, as well as, SPD environment
9. Proficient at critical thinking in an OR, as well as, SPD environment
10. Proficient in instrument tracking systems.
11. Proficient, and current, with regulations related to the SPD environment as well as AORN and AST standards.
