Summary:
The Technician Class B position is an experienced professional capable of diagnosing and repairing most vehicle components with minimal supervision. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and independence, distinguishing it from the Service Technician C Class position. Technician Class B is proficient in identifying and resolving complex issues, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. Their advanced skills and knowledge contribute significantly to the efficiency and reliability of the dealership's service operations. This position is essential for maintaining customer satisfaction and upholding the dealership's reputation for excellence.
Essential Duties:
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Diagnoses cause most malfunctions and perform repairs per OEM guidelines
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
• Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
• Supervises work of any apprentice technician as assigned
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Attends and completes all company training as assigned
• Maintains 85% efficiency or higher
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Degree from an accredited Diesel school; or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of equivalent combination of education and experience
• OEM Certifications Preferred
• Must have a valid Driver License (CDL Preferred)
Work Environment:
The employees will be exposed to moving parts and electrical current. This position will also have employees exposed to grease, chemicals, dust, and dirt. Employees must also be able to lift at least 50
pounds and require the employee to frequently work in a crouched position or lying on the back, on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicles. Employee is required to reach and work overhead approximately 40% of the time. The workload of this position is often performed in a non-climate-controlled environment.
