nThe Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Intermediate Clerk vacancies related to the DOJ Consent Decree.
nUnder the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.
nDuring your initial work period , you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.
nThose who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Intermediate Clerk.

nPositions allocable to this class typically report to a clerical supervisor or higher and perform specialized clerical duties requiring a working knowledge of specialized subject matter and the specialized clerical functions involved. Performance of assigned duties requires initiative and independent judgment within procedural and policy limits.

Requirements
nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
nOPTION I:
nSix (6) months of office clerical experience in the service of the County of Los Angeles or in districts under the jurisdiction of the County.
nOPTION II:
nOne (1) year of office clerical experience outside the service of the County of Los Angeles.
nOPTION III:
nA certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college or university*.
nYouMUSTmeet one of the above requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.
nWork performed part-time in the specified capacities will be prorated on a month-for-month basis.
nLICENSE:
nA valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
nPHYSICAL CLASS II – Light:
nThis class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
