Summary:
We are recruiting an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Power Transmission Group, focusing on steel structure repair projects. This role encompasses all phases of the project lifecycle—from design and client submittals to procurement and field operations. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, strong project coordination skills, and a commitment to quality and safety in utility infrastructure engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design development process for steel structure repair projects, including inspection, engineering, and repair workflows.
  • Manage internal and external drafting/modeling resources to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations compliant with industry codes and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with vendors and fabricators to select cost-effective, quality-assured materials and construction methods.
  • Support Business Development and Product Management by contributing to proposals, identifying opportunities, and conducting technical site evaluations.
  • Participate in R&D efforts including field testing, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Contribute to internal design discussions and reviews; support the implementation of drawing standards and repair methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams to ensure proper implementation of repair methods and compliance with project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5–6 years of experience in structural design and analysis.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., Abaqus, Ansys, PLS-CADD, RISA 3D, tnxTower).
  • Strong AutoCAD skills (2D and 3D).
  • Working knowledge of AISC, ACI, and ASCE codes and standards.
  • Preferred: Experience in power or telecom utility structure design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work in diverse environmental conditions as needed.
