Virtus Healthcare Staffing is supporting the recruitment efforts for an open Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS-ASCP) position at a leading community hospital in Fostoria, OH. This is a full-time, night shift role with a generous sign-on bonus.
Requirements:
- Education :
- Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- OR transcripts showing 60 semester hours including 24 semester hours in medical technology or sciences (with specified chemistry and biology coursework).
- OR meet alternate qualifications for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in §493.1489.
- Experience :
- Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training program (ABHES, CAHEA, or equivalent) OR qualifying work experience as per CLIA §493.1489.
- Certification :
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) MLS or categorical certification, or eligibility at hire with certification required within 1 year.
- Ability to work safely with laboratory equipment, specimens, and materials in compliance with PPE requirements and physical demands (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs., color differentiation).
- Sign-On Bonus : Up to $20,000 based on experience and commitment (2-year commitment for $20,000; 1-year commitment for $10,000).

- Perform routine and complex lab analyses, process specimens, and evaluate test results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; perform scheduled maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Maintain quality control records, recognize deviations, and take corrective actions.
- Serve as a knowledge resource for the healthcare team, ensuring effective communication and confidentiality.
- Input and verify data in laboratory information systems; use specialized software to support laboratory operations.
- Provide training and competency assessments for new staff and students; assist with staffing and technical issues as team leader in supervisor's absence.
