bout The Role
  • The Senior Electrical Engineer (EE) will be a key contributing team member on EV charging development programs and will have duties in module design and component selection, development of design collateral such as schematics, bills of material, PCB design, and in Electro-Magnetic Compliance (EMC). Lab-based proof of concept and engineering verification of functionality are also essential duties of this position. As a development team member, the Senior EE will also provide EE leadership and guidance to the development team. This guidance will be focused on the development of robust and innovative electronics systems for electric vehicle charging solutions. You will provide technical guidance, ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet both internal and customer objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide EE-based technical expertise as a member of one or more customer-focused teams working on automotive EVSE product development, each team being dedicated to an automotive OEM or platform.
  • Ensure product designs meet or exceed industry and customer requirements in terms of quality, cost, performance, and producibility.
  • Lead the development of technical solutions from concept through production, ensuring robust, electrically safe, and cost-effective designs, ready for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Oversee engineering analysis, material selection, and validation of all EE-relevant product content.
  • Collaborate with other departments to standardize engineering and material specifications, fostering product uniformity and strategic alignment.
  • Develop engineering analysis and documentation including DFMEA, DVP&R, design assumptions, proof models, and drawings to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate release of product requirements and specifications in the change management system, supporting both internal and external customer program objectives.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal engineering teams and with customers, providing technical alternatives, feedback, and direction.
  • Verify production feasibility of all designs, incorporating input from vendors, engineers, quality and production teams.
  • Identify and implement cost-control initiatives, ensuring cost-effective product design and delivery.
  • Serve as the EE technical liaison with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, representing the EE engineering function in meetings and negotiations.
  • Support new business development efforts by participating in customer acquisition and product strategy discussions.
  • Participate in key product design elements, engineering changes, drawing releases, tolerance analyses, DFMEA, and DVP&R for assigned programs.
  • Ensure EE-centric adherence to timing commitments for deliverables to both internal product teams and external customers.
  • ssist with efforts of adjacent engineering disciplines: systems, software, mechanical, and design verification.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related degree program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of automotive and/or power electronics engineering experience.
  • Strong background in working directly with automotive customers, with at least 3 years of experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory and industrial standards, customer specifications, competitive technical solutions, and emerging trends in vehicle electronics.
  • Proficiency in embedded circuit design, control systems, utility and premises electrical interconnects, worst-case analysis, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Proficiency with Altium Standard or Pro, and related design tools.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quality and engineering systems such as QEMS, 8D, CAD, DOE, GD&T, DFMEA, ECM, Robust Design, and Six Sigma.

Specific Job Functions
For this specific EE position, the following professional qualifications are essential -
  • primary function of the Senior EE will be as an expert in electronics development with emphasis on emissions and immunity requirements and design methodology (design-for), mitigation, and EMC lab expertise including use of lab equipment and measurement techniques required. The EE will be involved in all electronics assembly designs and developments as pertains EMC and related subject matter. Must have 3 or more years of experience in the regulatory aspects of EMC.
