Position Summary
nIt is the responsibility of the cook to manage and operate the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. He/she reports to the Dietary supervisor
nEssential Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner. n
- Ability to prepare tasteful meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities. n
- Ability to follow prepared menus and portion control guides. n
- Ability to prepare special diets accurately. n
- Record food temperatures for the meals. n
- Prepare pureed foods. n
- Ability to work in cooperation and harmony with personnel in all departments. n
- Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets. n
- Assist with serving the different meals. n
- Clean cooking area and serving carts. n
- Report resident care concerns and potential issues to Administrator and/or Director of Nurses. n
- Participate in the orientation and on-going training of dietary staff. n
- Ability to make the presentation of the food appealing to the residents. n
- Ability to cooperate. n
- Willing to supervise and to work under supervision. n
- To make sure all cleaning schedules are followed. n
- This job has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.. n

**Education & Experience **
n- n
- High school diploma or equivalent. n
- Should have experience as a cook in a hospital or long term care facility for not less than one year. n
- Must obtain and maintain ServSafe Certificate. n
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred. n
- Must remain in goo d standing with the Department of Public Health. n
