JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: COOK/ASSISTANT COOK --- SUBSTITUTE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a working knowledge of cooking and food preparation equipment (experience preferred).
- Be able to communicate and work well with others.
- Must be able to relate and work with children in a positive manner.
- Possess clean health habits.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must have good attendance.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 40 lbs., and capable of standing for long periods of time.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain kitchen work area, materials and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner.
- Cooperate with Head Cook to prepare a consistently pleasing food product.
- Assist in preparation and servicing all of the menu items.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Order all supplies as required.
- Monitor the instruction of student help in the cafeteria where applicable.
- Store food in a proper and sanitary manner.
- Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, dry storage and milk coolers in regularly scheduled intervals.
- Check and date all supply shipments that arrive, mark date in which was received along with expiration date.
- If calling off, after contacting the Food Service Administrative Assistant for a sub, you then need to contact your building Head Cook so that arrangements can be made due to your absence.
- Initiate daily cleaning and sterilization of all dishes, silverware and cooking utensils.
- Promote good public relations.
- Attend in-service and training sessions as required.
- Properly utilize and return leftovers as required.
- Operate the POS system as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned by your Head Cook or Food Service Director.
