Our client in the Specialty Food Sector is seeking a skilled Sales Manager to develop and implement effective sales strategies, lead a sales team, cultivate client relationships, and ensure that sales goals are met. This role also involves analyzing market trends and reporting on performance metrics. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in the food industry, extensive experience across the sales process, and a knack for lead generation, relationship building, and closing deals. Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in driving results are essential, along with the ability to inspire similar success in others. This position requires a strategic leader with a sharp intellect who can coach, guide, and motivate sales representatives while fostering a high-performing team.
Duties:
- Formulate and implement sales strategies to achieve company goals, including identifying new business opportunities and targeting key accounts.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty.
- Set realistic sales targets and track performance against them, identifying areas for improvement.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities and adapt sales strategies.
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management, providing insights into performance and future trends.
- Manage the sales budget effectively, ensuring resources are used efficiently to achieve sales goals.
- Manage the sales pipeline, ensuring a consistent flow of qualified leads and opportunities.
- Stay up to date on the company's product offerings and industry trends to effectively communicate value to customers.
- Conduct sales calls, presentations, and trade show activities to promote products and services.
- Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand the customer base for sales opportunities.
- Recruit, train, and motivate a sales team, providing coaching and feedback to improve performance.
- 10+ years' experience managing a book of business in the food industry
- Proven record of success with growing a sales function and the entire sales process
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of sales representatives
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel as needed
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred
