Senior Engineer III - Substation & I&C Projects
Contract Duration: Through 06/30/2027 (with potential for extension)
Location: Jackson, MI 49201
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (In-office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer III to lead and support engineering efforts within the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) division of HVD Engineering. This role focuses on substation design projects-both new constructions and upgrades-supporting capital initiatives with internal teams and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead development of Scope of Work (SOW) for consultant-led projects.
  • Create and manage RFQs , purchase requisitions , and invoice approvals .
  • Coordinate design milestone reviews (30/60/90%) and track project schedules.
  • Review technical deliverables and support AC/DC load studies , I&C schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Handle consultant RFIs , quality checks, and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Host and participate in review meetings with consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and improve project KPIs including quality, cost, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or a related Engineering discipline .
  • 5+ years of experience in utility, energy, or industrial engineering.
  • Strong understanding of substation I&C design , including schematics, wiring, and load studies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard engineering tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving , communication , and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
