nJob Overview
nTE Connectivity’s Manufacturing Process Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to develop and design manufacturing processes throughout all phases of the NPD as well as enhance existing processes. The acts as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They are responsible for tooling and fixturing designs; process development for new and production processes; creation of equipment specification; and implementation of new equipment into production. Activities include conducting DOE’s; feasibility studies, testing on new and modified manufacturing processes; directing and supporting detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp up. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will provide all required product documentation including SOP’s for new Production Processes, Product validation plans for production, Maintenance requirements for new equipment.
nResponsibilities
nDevelop Equipment specifications and validation requirements based upon Plant Quality requirements
nDevelop innovative designs to meet all manufacturing requirements for assembly, test, and manufacturability
nUtilize 2D and 3D CAD skills to create/ modify models and detailed drawings
nResearch new manufacturing processes that can be used in new equipment design and process improvements
nParticipate and lead prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent
nWork in the engineering laboratory to build prototypes for testing and customer delivery
nDesign and build fixturing and jigs to be used in the manufacturing process of new products
nCreate and implement Design of Experiments (DOE) and other testing to understand the responses to design and manufacturing variables
nMaintain engineering documentation including Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Bills of Materials (BOM)
nCreate reports and presentations to communicate status updates and progress to Operations, Development team and customers
nCommunicate directly with customers to understand and develop product requirements and provide project updates
nCoordinate with fellow design engineers, the Project Manager and other departments to transfer new products into production
nWork with local and outsourced machine shops to build and modify parts used for testing and development
nLead and participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) sessions
nSupport released products by creating cost saving and design improvements
n10%-25% Travel required dependent on Project status
nWhat your background should look like:
nEducation and Experience
nBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
nGraduate degrees welcome
nMin 5 years of Engineering Design or Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development experience preferred
nQualifications
nProficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, Outlook
nExperience with 2D modeling software
nAutoCAD, ZWCAD
nDemonstrated proficiency with 3D modeling software
nInventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.
nFamiliarity with statistical analysis
nMinitab software experience preferred
nKnowledge of Design of Experiments
nKnowledge of Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen, 5S, 6σ)
nUnderstanding of the NPD process from design initiation to production release
nSix Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training beneficial
nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to lead cross-functional project teams and train shop floor employees
nStrong project management and organizational skills.
nFamiliarity with automation systems, PLCs, and digital manufacturing systems is a plus.

nCOMPENSATION
n• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $102,600- $153,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
n• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
