nStructural Design Engineer - Transit Facilities / Buildings - Southern California
nOpportunity:
nOur Parsons Pasadena office in the Los Angeles area is now hiring for a Structural Design Engineer to join our rail and transit division. Parsons has supported all elements of mass transit, including mainline railways, commuter rail and light rail transit. Our design teams have worked on every major transit system in North America and many of the most renowned systems overseas and we are now hiring an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team in Southern California.
nWe offer the flexibility to work either virtually from home or hybrid remote from our Pasadena office a couple of days per week as well. Position does require to be located in Southern California region.
nWe are engaged in some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the country which are changing the urban context and are transforming the region into a more pedestrian and bike-friendly environment supported by public transit.
nIn this role, you will design Facilities and Buildings used in Rail/Transit as well as various structures, like pedestrian bridges, walkways, overpasses, underground structures, and other related structures associated with Mass transit. You will be expected to analyze proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Deliverables include the development of specifications, engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys and designs from planning stages through proposal through construction.

Develops engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.

Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a support engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-sized project.

Provides input and technical support to BIM Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.

Design of structural aspects transit terminal stations for various systems in the US West region and Hawaii.

Qualifications:
nBachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field)
n3 years or more of related work experience is required , Master's degree is desirable
nExperience with rail and transit stations is desirable, but not required
nEIT is required, and PE desirable, but not required.
nProficiency in utilizing BIM/Revit and software packages typically associated with engineering is required
nProficiency with office software such as; MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Bluebeam is desirable.
nProficiency in the analysis, design and detailing of concrete and steel buildings for gravity and lateral loads using current building codes (IBC, ASCE7, ACI, AISC) is required
nWorking knowledge of concrete masonry unit and light framing construction is preferred

nSalary Range: $62,300.00 - $109,000.00
