Sr. Electrical engineer
nLocation: Ashville, NC
nType of position: 6 month contract to direct
nPay Range: 85-110k depending on relevant experience.
nThe Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for reviewing and interpreting customer requirements, both technical and programmatic, and assessing the level of effort required to fulfill them both in terms of time and material from an electronics perspective.
nProduct/Project Lifecycle Engineering
nDevelops electronic architectures and implement specific design for control of specific components and systems.
nUnderstands manufacturing and overall design trade-offs.
nDevelops and validates system performance models and predictions.
nParticipates as a member of a cross-functional project team including: software engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, program managers, technicians, and sales/customer support staff.
nSupports product improvement/cost reduction initiatives.
nPerforms and/or coordinates design analyses using Matlab®, Mathcad®, and Pspice® (or other computer-aided engineering/simulation tools).
nPrepares, maintains, and adheres to project schedules.
nSupports and fosters relationships with our customers’ engineering teams
nRequired Skills:
nCritical Competencies
nTechnical versatility in electronics design, electronics hardware/software integration, and system electromechanical integration
nExperience in industry standards such as DO-254, DO-178C, MIL-STD-882E is a plus.
nKnowledge of relevant DO-160, MIL-STD-461, IPC and IEC standards for electronics development
nEfficiently executes design and/or proposal analyses using Altium, Matlab®, Mathcad®, and Pspice® (or other computer-aided engineering/simulation tools)
nElectronic components and test equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.)Systems engineering (requirements-based design and project execution)
nAnalog and digital circuit design
nPrinted circuit board (PCB) layout, manufacturing and assembly processes
nElectromagnetic interference and susceptibility design methods
nExperience with lightning protection

nEducation & Experience
nB.S. in Electrical Engineering required; M.S. in Electrical Engineering preferred.
nMinimum 5 years required, 10+ years preferred in digital motion controls and power electronic design, including experience in the following:
nDC and AC Motors
nRotary and linear power transmission components (gears, ballscrews, etc).
nVarious position feedback devices (resolvers, RVDT/LVDT, encoders, etc.)
nDSP/FPGA based servo systems
nMust be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
nMust be able to work on U.S. government programs and/or obtain security clearance in the future.
