We are seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join our culinary team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to residents ensuring food safety, nutritional balance, and attractive presentation. The ideal candidate will bring experience in quantity food production, a strong commitment to cleanliness and safety, and a passion for enhancing the dining experience in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals for regular and therapeutic diets based on planned menus and residents' individual dietary needs and preferences
- Use proper food handling, storage, and safety techniques in accordance with all applicable policies and regulations
- Ensure all food is prepared using standardized recipes, is served at the appropriate temperature, and meets visual presentation standards
- Maintain proper food temperatures during cooking and service; record and report all required data
- Use appropriate portion control tools and follow diet-specific guidelines during preparation and plating
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following manual and/or automated procedures
- Keep the kitchen and workstations clean, organized, and compliant with infection control standards
- Assist in receiving, storing, and tracking inventory of food and supplies; report any shortages promptly
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer and supervisory guidelines
- Participate in ongoing cleaning assignments and use approved sanitation chemicals properly
- Ensure accurate, timely meal delivery to designated areas, and support special event meal service as needed
- Communicate professionally and courteously with residents, staff, and visitors
- Must pass a background check as required by state regulations before resident contact
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Flexibility to assume Culinary Manager responsibilities when requested
- Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or long-term care settings preferred
- Knowledge of basic nutrition and therapeutic diets preferred
- Proficiency in safe and sanitary kitchen practices
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Basic math skills for measuring, portioning, and inventory tracking
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines with accuracy

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification required.
- Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations.
- Six months' experience in large quantity food preparation. Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred.
- Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred.
