DEALBREAKER REQUIREMENT: The qualified candidate has been in the commercial HVAC construction space with significant experience running commercial HVAC pipe, including copper pipe. This is a non-negotiable requirement. Plumbers need not apply - must have a commercial HVAC background.

Hourly Pay Rate: $30.00 - 35.00 per hour DOE

MUST HAVE A CLEAN CRIMINAL BACKGROUND IN ORDER TO GET BADGED FOR HIGH-SECURITY PROJECTS.

• Minimum 3 years of COPPER pipe fitting welding in a COMMERCIAL HVAC CONSTRUCTION setting.

• High school diploma or technical school
n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

n
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms. Knowledge of welding techniques and engineering requirements. Includes welders who analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable.
n
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
n
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
n
• Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers and ruler.
n
• Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
n
• Cuts workpiece, using power saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
n
• Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
n
• Installs or repairs equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings
n
• Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
n
• Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
n
• Removes rough spots from workpiece using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
n
• Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
n
• Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
n
• Determines required equipment and welding method and techniques
n

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
n
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
n
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
n
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
