Engineer I, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., Aurora, IL
Duties: Work with Surface Transportation group on conventional, unique, and complex projects in the markets served by CMT. Work on projects including roadway/highway geometric design, storm drainage, transportation planning, traffic engineering, corridor studies, and safety studies. Design structural elements for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other miscellaneous structural elements. Perform structural analysis on existing and new roadway and railroad structures. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures, identify cause of deficiencies, and produce reports and memos proposing solutions. Perform construction investigations for structural and other transportation projects and assemble daily records of work performed. Prepare detailed plans, drawings, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable codes and regulations. Utilize computer aided drafting software for the assembly of construction plans and exhibits for highway and railroad structures. Perform design calculations for highway and railroad structure projects utilizing hand calculations and computer software. Perform quantity calculations and cost estimates. Assist with technical writeups for various marketing pursuits. No hire/fire authority.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited university. Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Experience required with roadway or railroad and highway or railway geometric design. Must have experience with design or load rating of structural elements including timber and steel elements. Must have experience performing bridge inspections for bridge and culvert structures. Up to 10% local travel required. Up to 2% national travel may be required. Telecommuting may be permitted at manager's discretion up to 2 days a week within a reasonable commuting distance from the Aurora IL office.
Illinois Wage Range: $70,824 to $73,300/year.
