What You'll Do
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Execute hands-on electrical work including control panel layout, point-to-point wiring, and component setup
- Oversee and support automation projects from concept to completion, including installation and startup
- Lead process improvements focused on increasing uptime, reducing scrap, and improving safety
- Configure and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs) and other smart control devices
- Manage and coordinate contractors during equipment upgrades or installations
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term corrective actions
- Maintain version control and backups for all control systems
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to drive efficiency
- PLCs: Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE
- Drives: PowerFlex, Yaskawa, Siemens
- Networks: Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Remote I/O
- Interfaces: HMI, SCADA
- Tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, Oracle
- Technologies: Vision systems, intelligent sensors, process automation, data acquisition
- 5-10 years of direct experience in industrial controls engineering
- Hands-on experience with control panel design, electrical troubleshooting, and automation hardware
- Strong programming ability in PLC and HMI platforms
- Knowledge of industrial network protocols and smart device integration
- Proven project management and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to lead small to mid-size projects independently and work cross-functionally
- Experience integrating vision systems or smart sensors
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles
- Exposure to ERP systems like Oracle or SAP
