nThe DPW’s Fleet Maintenance Division maintains all municipal vehicles for the Town of Burlington. The division performs various repairs from welding, metal fabrication, brazing, making hydraulic lines, fixing snow plows and sanders, simple and complex preventative maintenance and diagnostic services, and all other necessary repairs. We are seeking an individual to perform this highly skilled maintenance and repair work on heavy and light Town vehicles and equipment, working under the direction of the Superintendent of the Fleet Maintenance Division.
nEssential functions include, but are not limited to:

Perform mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance work; troubleshoot gasoline and diesel internal combustion engine-powered electrical systems, remove and replace clutches and transmissions

Per form preventative maintenance work such as lubrication and replacement of oil filters, wheel alignments, and adjusting brakes and clutches
n n - n
Perform emergency repairs in the field and respond to other related emergencies
n n - n
Remove and disassemble diesel and gasoline engines, replace faulty parts, grind valves, engine overhauls
n n - n
Perform auto body work and related welding and fabrication duties
n n - n
Utilize work order system and other electronic devices to complete daily assignments
n n - n
Inspect trucks and issue inspection stickers
n n - n
Assist in snow removal operations; subject to emergency recall

Minimum qualifications include

Must possess a CDL Class B License
n n - n
Must possess a Hoisting License 2A, 4E & 4G
n n - n
Applicants without the necessary CDL and Hoisting Licenses may be considered under certain conditions.

Experience with, and knowledge of principles, procedures, methods & techniques involved in the repair & maintenance of gasoline & diesel powered motor vehicles, generators, and other equipment

Mechanical abilities to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of motorized equipment
n n - n
Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and the required software
n n - n
Must be available for emergency snow removal operations
n n
Full time union position, 40 hours per week, within the Department of Public Works bargaining unit.
nPay range within Group 86 of the DPW contract starts at $29.78/hr, providing annual salary increases to a maximum rate of $42.35/hr, along with comprehensive and generous benefits.
