nCDM Smith is seeking a dynamic Electrical Engineer to join our team of forward-thinking experts. You'll design high-performance systems that drive infrastructure resilience, energy innovation, and technical excellence across industries. From power grids to smart facilities, your work will electrify progress.
nDesign and develop electrical systems from foundational to highly complex-including electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power infrastructure, and renewable energy solutions.
nPerform advanced studies and calculations for power distribution, lighting simulations and layouts, communications, fire alarm, and security systems.
nDevelop white papers and technical documentation to support CDM Smith's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) program.
nConduct field reviews to ensure alignment between design specifications and site conditions; update designs as needed.
nCollaborate with sales staff to shape winning proposals and respond to client RFPs.
nReview proposals for compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
nEngage directly with current and prospective clients to understand and plan for future design needs.
nRepresent the firm at industry conferences and events, enhancing both your visibility and ours.
nMentor junior engineers and contribute to their technical growth and project success.
nProvide guidance and may oversee the work of junior team members to ensure quality and consistency.

nMinimum Qualifications:
nBachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
nProfessional engineering (PE) license.
n7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
nThe frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
nEquivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
nPreferred Qualifications:
nExperience leading substation engineering projects through 345kV.
nProficiency in protective relay schemes and creating relay schematics/wiring diagrams.
nExpertise in specifying and selecting electrical equipment, including SCADA/RTU hardware.
nFamiliarity with NESC and NEC standards.
nKnowledge of substation grounding grid design and lightning protection systems.

nSkills and Abilities:
nWorking knowledge of CADD software, including 3D and 4D design tools.
nExpert understanding of engineering design principles and standards.
nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
nStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations relevant to electrical design.
nBackground Check and Drug Testing Information:

nAdditional Compensation:
nAll bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
