Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Drivetrain Forging and Casting Team at Caterpillar. This role focuses on supporting clutch housing design across a diverse range of CAT products. The ideal candidate will have strong modeling and analysis skills, experience with cast components, and the ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams. This is a fully on-site position in East Peoria, with occasional travel to the Decatur plant.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Team Lead on clutch housing design projects.
- Develop concept models and perform stress analysis using CREO Simulate.
- Coordinate part detailing activities with external design teams.
- Review PPAPs and support the qualification of new parts and suppliers.
- Evaluate and approve design deviations and assess non-conforming materials.
- Conduct design assessments and prepare initial design proposals.
- Perform light Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate mechanical integrity.
- Support manufacturing teams by traveling to the Decatur facility as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical component design.
- Proficiency in CREO or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong collaboration, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience designing castings and working with clutch or axle housings.
- Familiarity with rotating mechanical components and associated design considerations.
