GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Business Operations, the Communications Manager implements internal and external communication strategies that advance The Health Trust's mission to build health equity in Silicon Valley. Duties include website and intranet redesign and updates; development and management of social media content and newsletters; digital and physical marketing materials; creation of flyers, brochures, reports, templates, and videos; and writing and dissemination of written documents such as press releases and grantee partner stories. This position will include significant attendance at community events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Articulate the organization's overall mission and strategies into communications that support the grant making, policy advocacy, and strategic plan initiatives of the organization.
- Lead the organization in delivering both proactive and responsive communications to support the strategic goals of the organization.
- Manage and identify growth opportunities for social media, marketing presence, and advocacy (framing key messages, and creation of internal and external communication collateral)
- Capture photographic and video images of The Health Trust in action. Develop and maintain a digital media file system.
- Interview staff, and grantee partners to help communicate The Health Trust's stories and successes for external marketing efforts.
- Participate in concept development, copywriting, and scheduling for a wide variety of materials and media including organization website and intranet, campaigns, publications, social media, presentations, press releases, and opinion pieces.
- Manage and maintain website, intranet, social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, e-newsletters, and all manner of publications including agency flyers and brochures, digital and hard copy.
- Monitor and incorporate communications best practices in order to strengthen The Health Trust's impact.
- Serve as a point of contact for website and printing consultants and vendors.
- Participate in and serve as knowledge expert in selection of new marketing/communications vendors and software platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience in design and development of digital and print collateral.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, graphic design, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in public health or related field.
- Experience using Adobe Suite, Canva, Wordpress, MyEmma marketing platform or equivalent software programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to execute duties in a timely manner.
- Initiative to manage multiple projects at once and seek guidance when needed.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.
- Demonstrated strong teamwork and people skills, with ability to cultivate productive relationships.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Google products, and graphic design software..
- Ability to model and communicate the mission of The Health Trust and support a culture of empowerment and team support.
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
- Local travel required.
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
- Car available for daily use with valid driver's license and automobile insurance as required by the State of California.
- Employment background screening required.
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $90,000
