nWe are seeking a Mechanical Systems Test Engineer on the Orion Program responsible for the coordination of all aspects of test preparation and execution.
nSummary of Key Duties for this position:
n• Mastering and maintaining proper test conduct and test processes
n• Obtaining Certified Test Conductor certification
n• Learning and understanding the Orion spacecraft assembly, integration and test flow and the associated processes including test execution, anomaly resolution, and paper closure.

no Understanding test requirements & objectives
no Defining the test implementation approach
no Writing and releasing test procedures
no Coordinating usage of facility resources, test tooling and ground support equipment
no Using test instrumentation & data acquisition systems
no Interfacing with both internal and NASA customers
no Executing floor operations and tests
n• The work will involve acceptance testing, environmental testing and ground servicing of flight hardware (including fluids & pneumatic systems, mechanical structures and mechanisms) at the assembly, subsystem and spacecraft level of assembly.
n• Test activities will primarily take place at Kennedy Space Center, but the position will be required to support test efforts at other locations for periods of time.
n• Periodic off-shift and weekend work will be required.

nBasic Qualifications:
n• Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field preferred) or equivalent experience/combined education
n• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and test specifications for testing of mechanical hardware
n• Willing to work extended hours, including second/third shifts and weekends, in support of test activities
n• This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
nDesired Skills:
n• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
n• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective cross-functional relationships and an ability to work and lead in a team environment
n• Willingness to travel to other LM Space campuses to perform Test Engineering activities
n• Certified Test Conductor (CTC) training
n• Experience with structural, environmental or pneumatic testing
n• Familiarity using Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (pneumatic or fluids loading panels)
n• Familiarity with fluid systems, such as Propulsion or Environmental Control and Life Support
n• Experience writing test plans, test procedures, or technical documents
n• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules
n• Knowledge of the Orion spacecraft or experience on a production spacecraft program
n• Experience using Automation Framework tools
n• Thorough understanding of LM command media for Test Engineering

nAbility to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
nWork Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
nSchedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
