nOur Transmission Engineering team is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in our Los Angeles or San Diego office. This is a hybrid position, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design. Specific areas of responsibility are provided below.
nJob Description
nPlan, analyze, and design a variety of transmission line projects primarily with the utilities and other types of projects with multiple stakeholders
nReport directly to a Project Engineer or Project Manager and will have primarily transmission line project planning, analysis, and design responsibilities
nSolid understanding of transmission line project scope & deliverables. Having the ability to identify scope creep provide immediate input and coordinate with the Project Engineer or Project Manager to remedy the situation
nCoordinating with engineers and technical staff to ensure that the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner
nCoordinating with equipment vendors, clients, and the rest of the design disciplines.
nLead meetings with clients, other stakeholders, and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions
nFollowing the process of obtaining approvals from various agencies.
nResearching issues related to transmission line projects that impact individual projects
nWriting and editing technical reports and engineering studies
nPreparing plans, specifications, and design packages for transmission line projects.
nProducing technical presentations and design drawings
nPerform detailed studies, review plans, transmission line modelling and design tasks associated with utilities or other types of projects, under the supervision of a project manager.
nSupport construction projects with field site visits and construction observation duties, responding to RFIs
nAct as a liaison between Kosmos Group engineering and construction teams
nCertify that company design practices are followed as they relate to their Practice/Discipline deliverables, and they act as a focal point for the company Project Practice/Discipline Team Members
nSchedule and coordinate peer reviews of said tasks including, third-party Practice/Discipline quality reviews of deliverables
nPerform quality reviews for transmission projects, including using design-specific tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE
nSupport the project manager and proposal manager to prepare proposal man-hour estimates and technical scopes to support the sales effort.
nProvide guidance and instruction to the transmission engineering department, mentoring, and guiding less experienced engineers
nApproving and Stamping designs and drawings and serving as EOR (Engineer of Record)
nQualifications
nBachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
nMinimum seven (7) years or more of related experience
nA California Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
nExperience in 69kV to 500kV line design and advanced knowledge in Power Line system-based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)
nExperience as the technical lead on projects and performing quality reviews
nWorking knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
nAdvanced Working knowledge of GO95 and/or NESC
nStrong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
nAdvanced Knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems/software to execute production
nAdvanced Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
nStrong written and verbal communication skills
nAbility to travel
nPreferred Qualifications
nA master’s degree is preferred
nAdvanced working knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
nAdvanced Working knowledge of Wildfire Mitigation
nFor California only, this position's base salary range approximation is $147,000.00 - $178,800.00 and it depends on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
