nJob Description:
nAs a Lead Electrical Engineer within our Surveillance product line, you are focused on developing TCAS and transponder radios, owning the electrical engineering discipline through initial concept , design, qualification, and lifecycle management. You will interact with business development and all engineering functions, with a specific focus on relating the requirements for top-level product development to the particular technical areas of electrical engineering. You will be involved in multidisciplinary project teams that encompass mechanical, electrical, digital/analog, RF, firmware, and software engineering, working together to plan, design, prototype, and test avionics transponders, RF, and sensor-based systems. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, as well as ensuring the Surveillance product line adheres to industry best practices for product development. The design focus will include surveillance avionics for Air Transport, as well as General Aviation and emerging platforms, such as Urban Air Mobility (UAM) eVTOL aircraft.
nEssential Functions:
n- n
- Conceptualize, design, integrate, and qualify digital, analog, and power circuitry, with supplemental RF principles, in the avionics realm. n
- Design circuits with microprocessors, memory, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, high-speed busses including PCIE, and various avionics interfaces. n
- Proficiency in electrical schematic and review. Support for and review of CAD layout ( skills with Altium). n
- Generate design documents including HRDs, HDDs, and HCIAs. Generate certification documents such as PHACs. n
- Work effectively designing individual circuits, aircraft system architectures, and everything in between. n
- Familiarity with electrical analysis tools for power distribution, stress analysis, and other relevant simulations. n
- Participate in the proposal process for programs with EE requirements by estimating tasks, identifying risk, and planning development. n
- Effectively communicate across multiple technical teams. n
- Communicate directly with customers, in person or virtually, to understand their problems and formulate actionable solutions. n
- Other duties as assigned. n
- Travel up to 10%. n
Qualifications:
n- n
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. n
- Minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience in an engineering discipline with systems engineering principles, including requirements definition, requirements verification, design reviews and documentation, integration, test, and demonstration. n
- Minimum 7 years’ experience with electrical hardware design. n
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in customer-facing roles (internal or external). n
- Hands-on experience designing and developing avionics products, RF, or sensor systems. n
- Working knowledge of at least one software (Python or C++ desirable) n

- Work as a technology generalist with large amounts of design freedom to identify the most effective and timely solution, with a primary focus on the electrical realm. n
- Python or C++ working knowledge. n
- Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products n
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering n
- Awareness of FPGA/firmware development requirements as they impact electrical design n
- Experience with RTOS integration and understanding of its implications on hardware design n
- Practical understanding of the complexities of RF design, especially in the L-band frequency range n
- Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment. n
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation) n
- Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 n
- Experience with Design to Cost and Design for Manufacturability n
- Experience in effectively supporting the production and test of products in a different geographic location n
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple programs and responsibilities simultaneously n
- Ability to operate and identify the appropriate path forward with minimal oversight n
- Pilot License or Part 107 certificate n
