Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Space Systems

Job Summary:

n

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NASTRAN and FEMAP to support the development and assurance of advanced satellite systems. This role will be instrumental in performing structural analysis and ensuring compliance with aerospace standards throughout the satellite lifecycle—from concept through launch.

You will work autonomously within a collaborative, cross-functional team, including international partners, to deliver high-quality, reliable space systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • n

    Perform detailed FEA simulations using NASTRAN and FEMAP to evaluate structural integrity, thermal performance, and dynamic behavior of satellite components.

  • n

    Lead and support quality assurance activities across the satellite lifecycle, ensuring compliance with NASA, DoD, ISO, and AS9100 standards.

  • n

    Apply and interpret standards such as NASA NPR 8735.2, NASA-STD-8739 series, MIL-STD-1540, and MIL-STD-883.

    Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to integrate analysis results into engineering decisions.

    Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and failure investigations.

  • n

    Define inspection criteria and support verification and validation during integration and testing.

  • n

    Conduct internal and supplier audits aligned with industry standards.

  • n

    Support root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for nonconformances.

  • n

    Maintain detailed documentation for compliance and traceability.

  • n
  • n

    Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

n
    n
  • n

    2 plus years of professional experience.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Proficiency in NASTRAN and FEMAP for structural and thermal analysis.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong understanding of FEA principles and aerospace materials.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience in the Space or Defense industry.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Familiarity with Aerospace standards and tailoring for mission-specific requirements.

  • n
  • n

    Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience with MATLAB for data analysis and modeling.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Pay and Benefits

n

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.

n
