SCHEDULE: Multiple shifts available
  • Monday - Friday: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Tuesday - Saturday: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Friday - Tuesday: 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Sunday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Tuesday - Saturday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Cook to join the Patient Food and Nutrition Services team at Michigan Medicine Hospital. This role plays a crucial part in delivering nutritious and high-quality meals to patients and staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment . The ideal candidate has experience in food preparation, menu planning, and a strong understanding of dietary guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines .
  • Assist in menu planning , ensuring nutritional value and dietary compliance .
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure proper food storage .
  • Operate kitchen tools and equipment , including knives and cooking appliances, safely and efficiently.
  • Follow strict food safety and sanitation regulations in compliance with hospital standards.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to provide timely meal service .
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
  • Participate in training and mentoring new kitchen team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven experience as a cook in a high-volume food service setting.
  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques and nutrition planning .
  • Familiarity with dietary aide practices is a plus.
  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food preparation methods.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills .
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends , as required.
