Summary/General Description of Job:
nThe Maintenance Painter paints walls, equipment, buildings, bridges and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. The incumbent removes old paint to prepare surfaces prior to painting and mixes colors to obtain desired color or consistency.
nEssential Duties & Job Functions:
n§ Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork and fixtures of an establishment.
n§ Assesses surface peculiarities and specific preparation for various types of paint required for different applications including, metal, wood, concrete, sheetrock and epoxy-based coatings.
n§ Prepares surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices and applying paint with spray gun or brush.
n§ May mix colors, oils and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.
n§ Performs other related duties as assigned.
nnMay perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.
