Position Title: Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Department: Management / Operations
Reports to: Plant Manager
FLSA Status: (Exempt)
Position Purpose
The Environmental Health, and Safety Manager will implement policies to promote and ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Their primary goal is to protect people from workplace and environmental hazards and to protect the environment from human hazards.
Primary Functions
EHS managers need to be knowledgeable about environmental law and City and State regulations, have good observation skills, and pay close attention to detail.

Position Purpose
The Environmental Health, and Safety Manager will implement policies to promote and ensure a safe and healthy work environment. Their primary goal is to protect people from workplace and environmental hazards and to protect the environment from human hazards.
Primary Functions
- Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. Will evaluate equipment and identify potential hazards and will compile action list to eliminate, engineer out, or correct hazardous condition or potential hazards.
- Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine safety inspections.
- Develops health and safety policies and procedures for all areas of the business.
- Will conduct investigations for near-misses and accidents and will compile necessary reports of incidents.
- Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. Will coordinate training through HR Manager and facility Trainer.
- Monitors OSHA compliance with safety procedures and ensure compliance for Waste Water and Storm Water, per issued City and State permits.
- Will coordinate with necessary third parties as needed compliance sampling of waste water and storm water and submission of reports.
- Will manage onsite emergencies and plan for future emergencies and action plans. Will provide situation appraisals and updates to Plant Manager, President and Corporate Management as needed.
- Will draft inspection reports to document inspection findings, corrective action plan and timeline for completion of action plans.
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Will work with local fire department for site inspections and documentation they need in the event of an emergency.
- Maintains records of discharge, or an employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Will promote a safety culture and encourage employees to participate in safety and good environmental responsibility practices.
- Will maintain safety records, reports and documentation and will manage DEKRA input.
- Work with regulatory agencies from the City, State and other Federal agencies.
- Research and write permit applications and responses back to regulatory agencies.

- OSHA 10 & 30 Hour certified.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and experience requirement:
- OSHA 10 & 30 Hour certified
- Five years of related experience preferred.
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as walking and standing on surfaces during any investigation that could be slippery; elevated or uneven.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds at a time.
