Position Summary
The Credit Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and resolving credit balance claims on both Insurance and Self-Pay claims.
P rimary Functions & Accountabilities
- Investigating claims remittances, retractions as well as specific claims review follow-up, disposition, payment, and/or refund history
- Overall account review to determine outcome of patient and insurance credits, to deem as a refund or correction.
- Identify the root causes of credit situations
- Lead and make suggestions on streamlining approach toward credit claim resolution
- Create and manage preventative measures to guard against potential future occurrences
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems; specifically, EPIC, Allscripts, NextGen, Advantix preferred
- Experience with outbound business-to-business phone calls
- Detailed orientated required for concise, accurate, and standardized note taking (for claim notes, phone call notes, inter-office emails, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in business, health management or other related field preferred, or at least five years of experience in medical practice billing and collections with evidence of progressive responsibility
- Intermediate knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel required
- 2+ years of experience with insurance billing or Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable preferred
