Waste Connections has an immediate position open for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice in Chambersburg, PA to work on our fleet of equipment.

Schedule: Monday through Friday - 7am to 5:30pm / Saturday's as needed

Pay Rate: $25.00

As a mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are:

n
Assist with repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of powertrain, electrical andhydraulic systemson heavy equipment, such as excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, man-lifts, etc. Perform power washing on heavy equipment during routine preventative maintenance.

Complete required paperwork utilizingequipment maintenancesoftware program associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
n
n
Reviews and completes, repairs identified on Daily Inspection Reports.
n
n
Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
n
n
Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns that may take place in the transfer station.
n
n
Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate andOSHAstandards.
n
n
Participate in equipment operator training on best practices on maintenance and proper use of equipment
n

This position requires:

n
Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
n
n
Work environment is outdoor or may be indoor repair equipment in the field.
n
n
Usually well-lighted and ventilated.
n
n
Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.
n
n
Expect to know personal limitations and ask for assistance when necessary.
n

What we need from you:

Mechanical aptitude, a drive to learn and grow with a team.

Ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments to complete work assignments
n
n
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
n
n
Welding/fabrication experience, a major plus
n
