Job Description
You will lead the development and industrialization of solution polymerization process, transforming lab-scale discoveries into full-scale production. This position is based at a key U.S. manufacturing site with strategic importance to carbon fiber and high-performance materials production. They are providing relocation assistance for qualified candidates.
- Develop and scale polymer and dope processes from R&D through pilot and commercial implementation
- Design sustainable and efficient chemical manufacturing methods
- Lead technical development in capital and process improvement projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and R&D teams
- Maintain compliance with process safety standards and industry best practices
- Stay current with polymer science and apply new methods to ongoing development
The Successful Applicant
- Ph.D. (preferred) or Master's in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in chemical process development, including industrial solution polymerization
- Strong understanding of polymer chemistry and structure-property relationships
- Proven success scaling R&D processes to commercial production
- Hands-on experience with pilot plant operations and cross-disciplinary teams
- Familiarity with regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., PSM, EH&S standards)
- Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
