Oxford Solutions has a direct hire opening with a client for an Electrical Engineer for a role focused on transmission substation design. This role centers on substation protection and control (P&C) design for a variety of high-voltage utility projects including substations, solar collector substations, and battery energy storage systems.
Essential Functions

  • Develop control logic, wiring diagrams, schematics, and relay control designs
  • Design and review protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor, and transformer systems
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Create and manage scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for P&C projects
  • Produce and interpret drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, relay settings, and SCADA
  • Perform electrical studies
  • Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and field issue resolution
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams, suppliers, and contractors
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited program
  • 2 to 5 years of engineering experience
  • EIT or FE certification required; ability to obtain PE license within one year
  • Experience with substation and transmission P&C design
  • Knowledge of SCADA communication design and substation equipment layout
  • Strong project management, organizational, and technical skills
  • Experience reviewing and checking design work
  • Ability to work independently and lead engineering tasks
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Prior experience in the utility industry preferred
