Oxford Solutions has a direct hire opening with a client for an Electrical Engineer for a role focused on transmission substation design. This role centers on substation protection and control (P&C) design for a variety of high-voltage utility projects including substations, solar collector substations, and battery energy storage systems.
Essential Functions
- Develop control logic, wiring diagrams, schematics, and relay control designs
- Design and review protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor, and transformer systems
- Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers
- Create and manage scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for P&C projects
- Produce and interpret drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, relay settings, and SCADA
- Perform electrical studies
- Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and field issue resolution
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams, suppliers, and contractors
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited program
- 2 to 5 years of engineering experience
- EIT or FE certification required; ability to obtain PE license within one year
- Experience with substation and transmission P&C design
- Knowledge of SCADA communication design and substation equipment layout
- Strong project management, organizational, and technical skills
- Experience reviewing and checking design work
- Ability to work independently and lead engineering tasks
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in the utility industry preferred
