Job description – Fleet Mechanic
nJob Summary:
nThe Fleet Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for trucks, trailers, semi-tractors, and other motor vehicles & other equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment. n
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined. n
- Repair automobiles, trucks, landscape equipment, and other motorized vehicles, including snow machinery. n
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups. n
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts. n
- Specialize in vehicle transmission systems n
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance n
- Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly. n
- Diesel Experience. n
- Experience in the use of diagnostic tools to test vehicle components is a Plus. n
- Welding & Fabrication skills are a Plus. n
- Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components n
- Perform quality inspections before returning the vehicle to operations n
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements n
- Inspect machines, engines, transmissions, etc., and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues n
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability n
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner n
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems n
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components n
- Replenish fluids and parts of engines and machinery n
- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users n
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g., repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles, etc.) n
- Keep logs of work and report on issues n
- Performs other related duties as assigned. n
Requirements:n
Required Skills/Abilities:
nExtensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair.
nExcellent mechanical repair skills.
nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
nAbility to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
nProficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
nAbility to read service and repair manuals.
nAbility to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
nAbility to read work orders.
nEducation and Experience:
nMinimum of four (4) years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fleet equipment
nA valid driver's license and the ability to pass a background check and drug test.
nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
nMaster technician certification from the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is a plus.
nPhysical Requirements:
nMust be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
nAbility to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
nMust be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
nGood vision to inspect repair work.
nMust be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
