Job Title: Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
FLSA Status: Salary - Exempt
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Summary: This position is responsible for researching, planning, developing, designing, and modifying mechanical and/or hydraulic products and systems; and coordinating activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical and/or hydraulic products and systems; and assisting other engineering personnel with design and manufacturing standards.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Design and/or modify mechanical and/or hydraulic products and systems to interface with machines and equipment using computer aided design/drafting equipment and software.
- Act as a liaison from the engineering department to our production/ manufacturing department(s).
- Follow and/or develop new methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
- Assist other engineers in design and installation activities if needed to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Creates part numbers and bills of materials using ERP system.
- Provides technical assistance to Sales, Service, Assembly, and Safety Departments as needed.
- Processes engineering change orders relating to design changes, electrical changes, and/or hydraulic changes.
- Occasional travel (up to 10%+) to interact with customers and suppliers for research and development, troubleshooting engineering related issues, or follow up on engineering designs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- 3+ years of work experience in engineering related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Strong preference for previous experience with Finite Element Analysis
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, multi-tasking, and planning skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Hydraulic system design background preferred; ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
