REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid and current Staff Development Certification is required.
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in long-term care.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must maintain good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions is necessary.
  • Training, knowledge, and experience that enable general supervision of responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
REPORTING:
The Director of Staff Development reports to the Administrator.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Plan and implement ongoing in-service programs as mandated by state and federal regulations.
  • Identify needs and recommend in-service programs aimed at enhancing resident care and facility policies.
  • Provide orientation for all new employees as necessary.
  • Ensure employees are accurately informed about established facility policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of orientation and in-service programs.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor staff and facility conditions.
  • Coordinate CNA staffing, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a member of the safety committee and report on all employee incidents; act as the first responder.
  • Assist in training for Restorative Nursing.
  • Screen CNA applications, arrange interviews, and hire CNA staff as needed.
  • Attend all meetings as assigned by the Director of Nursing (DON) and/or Administrator.
  • Responsible for issuing back supports and gait belts.
  • Order and administer Hepatitis B vaccinations.
  • Administer PPD tests and schedule physicals upon hire and annually for all employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or DON.
  • Cover shifts on the floor when necessary.
