Job Summary-
nThis is an onsite role located in St. Petersburg, Florida.
nnThe GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship program is open to all ranks, enlisted or officer, may apply. Participants are not eligible for compensation from the company, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. A GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship, whether entry or mid-level, is an opportunity for individuals to gain valuable civilian experience through specific industry training during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participation in GDOTS DoD Skillbridge Internship Program is voluntary, Service member-initiated, and must be authorized by the individual’s chain of command prior to the start of the internship. Successful completion of all necessary company agreements and documentation will also be required.
nnThis program is being afforded to both active-duty Military Members of all supporting branches and Military Spouses. You will job-shadow and learn from experienced leaders and other smart, motivated people. This program will help you develop best in class skills on mission critical work.
nResponsibilities-
nThe QA Engineer II (Supplier Quality) role is responsible for the following:
nnDevelops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection to ensure that the products are free of flaws and function as designed | Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates | Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions | Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs.
nn- Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggest modifications meant to prevent defects in components or final products. - Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks. - Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure that established quality standards are met. - Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures. - May be responsible for ensuring compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.
nnThe servicemember will train to learn about GD-OTS and the QA Engineer II role.
nQualifications-
nRequired qualifications for a GD-OTS QA Engineer II role:
n- Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
nnPreferred education and experience:
n- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree - Discipline/Major: Quality or Engineering degree - Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to identify and seek needed information/Research skills. Problem-solving skills.
nnDoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
n- n
- Has served at least 180 days on active duty n
- Is within 12 months of separation or retirement n
- Will receive an honorable discharge n
- Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS n
- Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months n
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship. n
- Meets DoD SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29. n
Candidates for this position should possess a Vocational/Technical Training Degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
