Lake Prince Woods is seeking an experienced cook to join our fine dining team. We serve residents of all care levels in our continuing care retirement community. You will learn how to prepare menu items for our different levels of care. Adding new skills to your experience.

The Cook works with the dining staff to prepare the meals for residents, visitors and team members. Participates in supervision and instruction of Food Service Aides on their shifts; maintains high standards of sanitation and food handling in their work area. The candidate should understand all of the roles in the kitchen. Our main dining room last seating is at 6:30 p.m. , making for an early evening when scheduled for the dinner shift.

Minimal Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
Minimal Experience:
1. Six months food preparation experience in a hospital, institutional or restaurant preferred.
2. Experience in long term care or health care is preferred.
Other Qualifications:
1. Certification as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager preferred.
2. Ability to read and follow recipes, ability to write, add and subtract.
3. Must have good organization skills and be creative.
4. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and accept responsibility for the accuracy and quality of work performed.'

Job Duties:

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
